Throughout my career in my roles, either as an engineer, teacher, or Museum professional, I have always focused on continuous improvement practices. We have the amazing ability to analyze current situations, evaluate the needs that are being met or forgotten and reform our processes and practices to better meet those needs. In my current role as VP of learning, we are working with formal educators through various means to collect feedback, understand needs and improve our field trip offerings to better engage students and align with TN Science Standard priorities. As I took on this role, I realized that most of the feedback was from internal observations and not involving the end user or client. Involving teachers and students in the continuous improvement cycle has become a priority, as well as a clear and intentional system of ongoing improvement.
