Beth Boulay
Distinguished Senior Research Scientist
Annenberg Institute @ Brown University
Dr. Beth Boulay understands that policy makers and practitioners need evidence with which to make critical decisions about how to increase equitable outcomes for students and schools. She sees opportunities to use robust evaluation tools and methods to generate that evidence, leveraging over 20 years of experience designing and conducting evaluations of education programs that provide actionable evidence to program staff, practitioners, and policy makers. Since 2020, she has coordinated evaluation efforts for the Gates Foundation funded Networks for School Improvement, which aims to document how continuous improvement improves outcomes for students. Since 2006, she has worked with the U.S. Department of Education and hundreds of their grantees to incorporate evaluation methods into their implementation of innovative approaches to improving education. She works to build on this experience to grow the ways in which rigorous evaluation tools can be deployed for the benefit of practitioners and those they serve. She serves on the Board for the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness and holds a doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
