National Summit on Improvement in Education

Greetings Improvement Community,

It’s time to write our next chapter together! As noted in our previous email, after eleven successful years of hosting the Summit, the Carnegie Foundation is transitioning leadership to a coalition of organizations committed to advancing educational improvement (listed below). This year there will be two smaller Summits aimed at reducing costs and travel barriers, while enabling greater focus and connection for action:

  • Improvement Summit: Spring will take place in San Diego, CA, at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education from March 30th to April 1st, 2025.
  • Improvement Summit: Fall will be held in Nashville, TN, in early November 2025, in partnership with the National Center for School-University Partnerships (NCSUP).

SUBMIT A WORKSHOP PROPOSAL

We seek dynamic and interactive 90-minute workshops that address the following strands:

  • Improvement Stories of Impact: How have you used improvement to get compelling results and shift outcomes for students? What essential practices, structures and/or understandings were pivotal to this impact, and how might others apply these to their work?
  • Leading to Improve & Field-Building: How are you engaged in efforts to spread or scale effective practices/changes, or to advance continuous improvement across the educational system? What leadership actions support shifts in practice, mindset, and culture and draw more people into the work of improvement?

Click here to view the Request for Proposals and submit your workshop proposal for the Spring 2025 event today.

We encourage you to share this RFP with others who are getting results and whose stories need to be shared.

Priority Deadline for Workshop Proposals is October 26th (11:59 p.m. PT)

Proposals received by this date will be scored in the first round of reviews.

Final Deadline for Workshop Proposals is November 15th (11:59 p.m. PT)

GET READY FOR REGISTRATION DAY ON DEC 16

Only 600 people can attend this Spring’s Summit and spots will go fast! Those whose workshop proposals are accepted will get priority registration and a presenter discount.

On December 16th we will open registration on a first come, first served basis. Once spots are filled, you will be able to join a waitlist. Our goal is to maximize momentum and ensure a diversity of organizations in the room.

We will be convening in K-12 schools and classrooms, close to the heart of the work we all strive to impact. We will be meeting in more intimate groups, and engaging in interactive experiences, reflection, and dialogue. We will be learning from each other, pushing our work to the next level, and dreaming together through workshops, Improvement Reviews, and Den Talks with innovators and leaders in our field. Embedding our summit in K-12 schools is intentional. It allows us to stay grounded, reduce costs for attendees, and build a sustainable event so that we continue to thrive as a community into the future.

Starting in 2026, the new National Coalition for Improvement in Education (NCIE), housed at the High Tech High Graduate School of Education, will take responsibility for hosting the summit with others as part of its ongoing commitment to the field. We are excited to write the next chapter with you, and come together in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 bigger and better than ever before.
