
Kirby Schoephoerster

Kirby Schoephoerster is the Program Director of the National Math Foundation. He is responsible for managing all aspects of the nonprofits programmatic initiatives, from initial outreach and bridge-building with community partners, to the co-construction and implementation of locally-relevant educational projects designed to support mathematics learners of all ages. In addition to carrying out executive administrator duties for the nonprofit, he also sits on the Math Advisory Committee for Renaissance Learning as an educational leadership strategist. Kirby has experience as a professional development facilitator to both youth and adult learners within the fields of foreign language learning, kinesthetic pedagogy, and school-based improvement science. Kirby holds a BA and MA from St. Olaf College and Washington University in St. Louis respectively, and is pursuing his doctorate in education (Leadership & Learning in Organizations) at Vanderbilt University. His experience with school-based instruction includes leading the design and implementation of educational interventions for school communities across the US. Kirby’s research interests include equitable education design, systems-thinking, the intersection of physical activity and mathematics attitudes, and improvement science more generally. Kirby is a tenured grant manager with experience in academic research management and professional development consulting. Kirby has presented work from his educational experiences with multisensory teaching strategies at various national and regional conferences.
