Dr. Maria Lawson-Davenport currently serves as Assistant Professor of Administration and Supervision and Graduate Program Coordinator of Urban Education for the Norfolk State University School of Education in the Secondary Education and School Leadership Department. Previously, she served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for Suffolk Public Schools. She has experience teaching middle and high school, correctional education, adult basic education, and college. I have done work in multicultural self-efficacy and school improvement as integrated approach to preparing school leaders. I specifically focus on urban education and how urban and rural areas can address areas of need for school improvement. I am also looking at how to support teacher and central office leaders in real time with professional development and organizational leadership training.
